Nu Omega Psi Sorority Membership
Nu Omega Psi strives to be the premier organization committed to providing a mechanism of empowerment to all women.


There are many reasons why Nu Omega Psi was founded and why you should consider being a part of our National family. Nu Omega Psi is a lifelong commitment. Not only will you get the academic and moral support you need to be successful in college but you will gain a lifetime of memories. You will learn more about yourself and other cultures while taking our six principles into the real world. Nu Omega Psi is also committed to providing support and sisterhood beyond the undergraduate years by benefiting from our alumnae options.
 
Nu Omega Psi Sorority, Inc. believes that a greek experience during the college years and beyond enhances each member’s ability to function in a pluralistic society. We are an academic, cultural, service and social organization, dedicated to promoting the empowerment of women in higher education. Our primary goal is to promote our evolving and diverse cultures by sharing it with others through our five principles.
 
 Nu Omega Psi is a private membership organization. Any Undergraduate woman interested in becoming a member must have:
 
- Good character
- Leadership potential and/or abilities
- Minimum requirement of a semester 2.50/4.00 grade point average if (pledging as an undergraduate)
- Sincere desire to contribute to the fulfilling of task and responsibilities of the sorority
- Interest in activities that will aide in enhancing the academic atmosphere at their respective college/university or community
 
ENROLLMENT ON A COLLEGE CAMPUS IS NOT A REQUIREMENT
There are steps required for NonCollegiate Membership. The application process differs from collegiate membership. However all processes begin with an application of interest.
Membership can be obtained by the following opportunities
 
 
Undergraduate Members:
 Membership is chosen by the existing chapter or chapter of Nu Omega Psi at that respective college/university. Interested women will follow a series of meetings, social events, and will be interviewed by the chapter/chapter members. Interested women should contact the respective entity on their campus for more information on membership.If you are attending a university where we are not currently established, please contact one of our Executive Committee Members for more information on bringing Nu Omega Psi to your campus.
 
 
Graduate/Professional/Non Academic  Members:
 Women who have obtained a baccalaureate degree or are firmly and respectively pursuing a career or proven high moral standards and community involvement have the option of joining through the Graduate Member/Professional/Non Academic Program and should contact our Vice President of Alumnae for more information.

    How to establish a chapter:

                                                                                                                    

  •  1. Nu Omega Psi not only participates in local philanthropies we also support National philanthropies as well. A requirement of a Chapter establishment is   to select a Philanthropy and complete a fundraising event.

  • 2. Our uniquely designed membership was created in such a way that dues are reasonable for the modest income.

  • 3.  There IP will not be denied to members in other Greek lettered organizations  as long as their is no conflict of purpose or interest to your organization
    • are no special bids, however, invitations or recommendations required. Membership is inclusive but selective.

    • 4. We take pride in our status as a sorority. We take an effort to not mistake our sisterhood for business partnerships. Sisters are not an opportunity to make money.

    • 5.We are proud of our  multiculturalism. 

    • 6.We are an independent service and social sorority. Service to Community and the Sisterhood is a requirement of membership.

    • 7. We do have pledges. BUT We educate women into our sisterhood NOT haze them.

    First Steps to Starting a chapter

    To begin a chapter of NU OMEGA PSI you must follow these steps:

    Obtain permission from your college to begin a new chapter if seeking campus chapter.

    If you are petitioning a community or alumni chapter step one will not apply.

    Submit a form of membership interest.

    Once your form has been received a representative will contact you.

    Note: Your chapter will need a minimum of five members. All registered chapters of Nu Omega Psi are officially recognized by our national offices. Unofficial chapters should not consider themselves as members of the organization and should seek proper registration.
